Library (Temporary) Relocation FAQs

We’re getting close… You only have 2 more days (and the remainder of today) to get to the library and check out some material before we close for 2 weeks! If you know anyone with a project coming up, you might want to get to the library to pick up some research material really soon…

We’ve cooked up a few Frequently Asked Questions and Answers concerning the temporary relocation. Copies are available at the library, but I thought you folks in the digital world and interwebs might like to see them, too. If you have a question concerning anything library, please feel free to ask in the comments and we’ll get an answer to you!

When are you closed and for how long?

The library will be closed March 19th through to April 3, 2011. There will be no access to collections. Holds can be placed on our website at http://www.st-thomas.library.on.ca and limited telephone reference will be available.

Where do I return my materials when you are closed?

Outside drop boxes will be available until March 31. No returns will be accepted between April 1 and 3. After April 3, drop boxes will be available at the Mall.

When do I start returning my materials at the mall?

Inside and outside drop boxes will be installed when library opens at the new locations April 4.

Where will the drop boxes be at the mall?

An outside drop box will be available near the Mall entrance of Zellers, and an indoor box in front of our Marketplace place near Metro. Returns will be accepted at all library Mall locations during open hours.

When will you open for business in the mall?

Look for our grand opening on Monday, April 4, 2011.

What will your hours be at the mall?

The library’s hours will remain unchanged. Monday to Friday – 9:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., Saturday – 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and closed on Sunday.

How much of the current collection will be available?

You will be able to access all our recent and most popular fiction, non-fiction, large print, and paperbacks at the Adult Department, and most of the children’s and teen’s books will be available in their location. Almost all of the audio and DVD collection will be available at the Marketplace location.

What happens if I need a book that is in storage?

Material that’s in storage is not accessible until we return to our Revitalized Library. As always, material that is not in our collection may be available through interlibrary loan. For on-line access to our interlibrary loans, go to http://www.st-thomas.library.on.ca and look under Services for “Interlibrary Loans.” For quicker service, we encourage you to check the holdings at nearby library branches at Elgin County http://www.library.elgin-county.on.ca,  or one of the London branches, http://www.londonpubliclibrary.ca, and visit them to pick up your material. Elgin County and London Public Library cards are free.

Where will I pick up my holds?

All holds – for adult, children, teens, book clubs, and audio visual materials – will be available for pickup at the Marketplace.

When will you be back in the library at 153 Curtis Street?

We hope that construction will be compiled mid to late November.

Where can I drop off donations?

Cash, cheque or debit donations can be made at any library location during open hours, or on the website at http://www.st-thomas.library.on.ca. No book donations will be accepted while the library is closed March 19 to April 3. Donations of recent and gently used books will be gratefully received at the Library Friends Shop after April 4, and at the Adult Library location.
