The snow has finally stopped falling; old man winter has moved on and made way for spring! Ahhh, spring, the sun is warming the earth and we’re opening doors and windows to let the warm, fresh air flow through spaces that have been shuttered for too long. Along with the blooming of flowers and the budding of trees comes the opening of St. Thomas’ Horton Farmers’ Market. Located downtown on Manitoba St. a half a block north of Talbot St., the Horton Farmers’ Market offers a variety of vendors selling everything from fresh produce to hand-made jewellery.
This is St. Thomas Public Library’s third season at the Horton Farmer’s Market. We are just as excited this year as we were when we set up our first booth in 2009. At our table inside the Horton Farmers’ Market building you’ll find gently used books for sale at reasonable prices and selected library material for borrowing – just bring your library card.
If you don’t have a card we’d be happy to sign you up for free library membership right there at the market and then you can enjoy all the services St. Thomas Public Library has to offer! Other services we offer at the market include access to our full catalogue, resource service and access to online data bases. We’ve made it easy for anyone at the market to get online because we’ve brought along our wireless Hub! Bring your laptops, smart phones and iPads and you can access our free wireless service, just present your card to the library staff and we’ll give you the password.
Going on a fabulous vacation? Planning a landscaping project? Doing some renovating? Whatever your spring project St. Thomas Public Library has thousands of resources on hundreds of topics that will make whatever venture you’re planning that much easier and more exciting.
So when you’re out on Saturday morning, sipping coffee and buying fresh produce stop by our booth at the market, say hi, check out what’s happening at the library – you might find just what you’ve been looking for.
