Is the library part of your Valentine’s to-do list?

Well, it’s Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re part of a couple, or lovin’ the single life, the library (in my opinion) is one of the places that should be on your “to-do” list. I mean, this place has EVERYTHING you could possibly want for today for free!

For example, you can check out a few “Romantic” DVDs, such as Shakespeare in Love, Moulin Rouge! or The Notebook, and then grab a few CDs for during dinner or some dancing. Might I suggest some Michael Bublé, Tony Bennett, Frank Sinatra, or Josh Groban?

We have books on how to write love letters, an extensive selection of cook books to help you make that perfect meal, and books of a… um… physical… er… Books by Dr. Ruth.

Just want to look on your own? Try the Adult Non-fiction section, and look under #306 for the “Culture & Institution” section, #613 for the “Personal Health” section, and #646 for the “Personal Living” section. (They’re very broad categories, but they’re worth a browse.)

And then, of course, we have the entire genre of Romance for your fictional reading delight! To find your next great romance read, you might like to check out “NoveList” – one of the library’s databases. Once there, check out the menu on the left-hand side. It has 18 different sub-categories for Romance Fiction. While searching that database, there’s a link that will check to see if the book it recommends is in the library’s catalogue. Nifty!

Oh! And don’t forget that all Romance Fiction is on sale at the Library Friends’ Shop in the Elgin Mall! (Read on to find out what I’m talkin’ about…)

And, hey! If you’re single and looking to remedy that, we have books for you, too! For example, we have “The Manual : A True Bad Boy Explains How Men Think, Date, and Mate – and What Women Can Do to Come Out on Top,” or “Love in 90 Days: The Essential Guide to Finding Your Own True Love.” I told you the library has everything you need for today. (You know, I might read that last book myself and find out how accurate my own valentine is…)

But anyhoo, on Valentine’s Day, you gotta love your library. It’s the one-stop-shop for everything. And for free! I mean, what’s not to love about that?!

I hope you have an enjoyable Valentine’s Day and you get to show the people you love that you do, indeed, love them – and they reciprocate those feelings. Because after all, that’s what today’s about – showing love. (*Insert warm, fuzzy feeling here.*)
