Libraries: The Original Recyclers

Reason #13 - Recycling since 1884

Earth Day is approaching! A good time of year to renew our efforts to be sustainable. Libraries are sustainable by nature. Come and borrow what you need and save yourself a purchase. We reuse books until they can no longer be circulated, and here at St. Thomas Public Library even our old, beat-up books either get recycled or re-purposed.

Libraries are places of learning, and new skills can lead to less waste. Learn to grow and cook your own food, and you’ll save packaging costs and wasteful fast-food wrappers. Learn to use compost in your garden and put your food waste to work. Learn how to reuse your old items and turn them into new treasures!
