National Day of Honour

Today is National Day of Honour, a day to acknowledge the the sacrifices made by the men and women of the Canadian Forces in Afghanistan. More than 40,000 members of the Canadian Forces participated in the Afghan mission since it began in 2001, and today is an opportunity for all Canadians to reflect on the courage and sacrifices of the men and women who served there. We welcome home the members who served and remember the 158 Canadian soldiers and four Canadian civilians who lost their lives in Afghanistan. Canadian Service Members demonstrated extreme commitment, dedication, and courage at the highest of military standards.
