On behalf of the St. Thomas Public Library Board and Staff, our sincere condolences to the family of Carolyn Kneeshaw, who passed away Sunday November 9, 2014.  Carolyn was the much-loved St. Thomas Public Library CEO from 1980 to 2006. She actually started at the library in 1969 as Head of the Adult Services Department. She took time off to raise her children in 1972 before returning to the library in 1980.

Carolyn was active in the community, serving on committees and boards including the Elgin Council for Adult Education Training and Employment, Elgin St. Thomas Archives and Volunteer Elgin.

Former library colleagues say:

Carolyn enjoyed gardening, reading, travel and meeting people.  She told her husband Ray that she worked with the staff at the library, they did not work for her.

She was a kind and fair person to work with. Carolyn always had an open door policy, and she took the time to speak to you and know you. She did enjoy a good laugh, but could be very serious. Carolyn was devoted to the library as well as her family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Ray and family.

Those wishing to donate to the library in memory of Carolyn can do so online at www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/st-thomas-public-library/.
