St. Thomas, Ontario, Tuesday, May 19, 2015 – The Elgin Council for Adult Education, Training and Employment (ECAETE) is pleased to announce this year’s Lifelong Learning Awards, a celebration of the achievements of local adult learners. This is an opportunity for teachers and members of the Council to nominate one or more of their students who have shown great commitment to learning and personal improvement.

“We are so excited to be able to publicly recognize the hard work and dedication of these students, many of whom overcome major challenges every day just to be able to attend classes and pursue their education,” says Council Chair Jeanne McLaws. “It’s a very special night for the students, their families and their teachers.”

ECAETE is a local committee that coordinates and supports lifelong learning.   Members include all the major learning/training institutions, associations and programs available to community residents who wish to further their educational, training and employment goals – such as Fanshawe College, YWCA St. Thomas Elgin, Contact North, St. Thomas Public Library, Employment Services Elgin, Literacy Link South Central, and many more.

The Lifelong Learning Awards ceremony is set to be held Wednesday May 27th, 7:00-8:30pm, at the St. Thomas campus of Fanshawe College. For more information, please contact Amanda Burdick, Awards Committee Chair (communications@bellnet.ca) or Jeanne McLaws, ECAETE Chair (jeanne@atn.on.ca)
